KOSMOVISIONEN DES EROTISCHENCOSMOVISIONES DE LO ERÓTICO

The project consists of an event to approach the erotic from a multicultural and multidisciplinary perspective. Poetry, dance, music and performance were the central means of the event.

The activities related to poetry, panels and conversations were offered in different languages (Mayan language of Mexico, Spanish and German). On this event we offered the opportunity to listen to erotic poems written by a group of Mayan poets from Mexico «X kusamo’ob». Likewise, Prof. Dr. Yvette Bürki (UniBE) gave a talk on multimodality in erotic poetry.

The two workshops offered (tango, sound and percussion) offered the opportunity to explore eroticism through the body and senses. Mainly focused on promoting connection with our body and sensory abilities through movement and sound. A performance was also held that that explored the relationship with textiles and the body.

In the following audio you will be able to hear (in Spanish) some of the reflections on the «erotic» that arose during the event’s activities:

VISIONEN AUS DEM SÜDEN

Within the framework of the «Aktionswoche der Stadt Bern gegen Rassismus» we organized an event with the collaboration of the «Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB)». We carried out various activities, including the dynamic «collective body» (Sara Lucía Quiroga Fetiva and Lena Sigrist) and the screening of the documentary «Negra» by Medhin Tewolde with whom we had an online discussion. We also thanks the support of the Mexican embassy through Daniel Tamayo Astie and Sebastian Marquinez.

BURIAL

Dog Good Xólotl, The Xoloitzcuintle (or Mexican dog) is the main animal representation of this deity that is related to death, movement, darkness, the double and the underworld in the pre-Hispanic cultures of Mesoamerica.

As part of the dismantling of the «Las Americas» hall of the Historical Museum of Bern, a poetry recital was held to honor and recognize the objects that were part of this exhibition.

Likewise, the following text was read:

ENTIERRO

Mariana González

Granito, roca volcánica, caliza, basalto, obsidiana, barro, concha, hueso, carne y sonido.

Granite, volcanic rock, limestone, basalt, obsidian, mud, shell, bone, flesh, and sound.

Through so many turns, so many lights and darkness, you have danced static dances, you have sat down and watched, with your naked bodies, your styles and manners, your beautiful ornaments, you have taught us your language, your teeth, communicating with sepulchral hoarseness.

The paths will now continue, guided by the guardians.

In a continuous meandering, between here and there.

I sing, so you trust these dogs, that one day, will bring back your bones.
I swallow my heart and try to place it back on my chest, to ask you that to visit us in dreams and visions.

With respect, nostalgia, sadness, enervated drumbeats, we offer similar sounds from the past and who we are now.

Some sounds, that your mutilated figures, have witnessed, in all their times.

Now in silent, echoes, which is the only thing that we have left.

Janal Pixan, the Mayan tradition of the Day of
the Dead in Mexico

Within the framework of the «Día de Muertos» event organized by the Mexican embassy in Switzerland and the Historical Museum of Bern, we carried out guided tours (in collaboration with Susan Marti) for visitors to talk about the «Berner Totentanz» by the artist Niklaus Manuel and the traditions and rituals related to death in Mexico. Likewise, we held workshops where the participants could learn about the tradition of «Janal Pixan» or the Day of the Dead of the Mayan area of Mexico. To complement the workshops we present an exhibition of photographs donated by Prof. Francisco Fernández Reppeto, a specialist in visual anthropology from the Faculty of Anthropological Sciences of the Autonomous University of Yucatan.
